Our Heritage & Terroir
We are in the heart of an ancient land, whose origins date back to around the 8th century BC. Legend has it that Caiazzo was founded by Calatia, a nymph and daughter of Tifata, who was passionately loved by the god Volturnus and sought refuge in this place to escape her father’s wrath. This is the cradle of Italian viticulture, an enchanting land that, today as in ancient times, captivates visitors with its evocative landscapes and extraordinary natural heritage. Every corner reveals a perfect harmony of colours, rolling valleys, open skies and vineyards. The clay and sandy soils, favourable sun exposure, natural ventilation and efficient water drainage, all characteristic of hilly areas, are just some of the factors that have always made these lands ideal for fully expressing our passion for winemaking. Here, we devote ourselves to our vineyards, celebrating the uniqueness of our land and our grapes while reviving the cultivation of ancient native Campanian varieties, such as Casavecchia and Pallagrello. The latter was already highly appreciated by King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon in his renowned Vigna del Ventaglio. A love of tradition and respect for the land are the foundations of our philosophy, guiding us in the creation of precious wines that tell an authentic story through their aromas and flavours: the story of our Terra Antica — our Ancient Land.
