Dominio de Berzal
Rioja, Spain
About this estate
Dominio de Berzal is a family winery in Baños de Ebro, in Rioja Alavesa in Álava, run by the brothers José Luis, Juan Mari and Iñigo Berzal. The family says its history goes back to 1958, when all wine was sold in bulk; its first cosechero wine reached the market in 1980 and the Dominio de Berzal crianza label first appeared in 1999. The estate has 50 hectares of vineyards in five nearby municipalities, planted about 80% Tempranillo, 10% Viura and 5% Graciano, with the rest in Maturana, Malvasía and Garnacha Blanca. Its site describes its approach as sustainable agriculture. Grapes are picked by hand.
