Bodegas Sierra Cantabria is the original winery of the Eguren family, founded in 1957 in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in Rioja. The family's site traces its involvement with vines to 1870 and describes five generations of growers. The vineyards lie mainly around San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, on clay-limestone soils, and grow Tempranillo, Garnacha, Viura and Tempranillo Peludo, some vines more than seventy years old. The wines are labelled D.O.Ca. Rioja. The Eguren family runs six wineries in Rioja, Toro and Castilla under the Viñedos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria name.
