Luberri
Rioja, Spain
About this estate
Luberri, the Monje Amestoy family winery, is based in Elciego, Álava, in Rioja Alavesa. It is led by Florentino Martínez Monje, whom the site calls the founder of Luberri. The vineyards sit on white calcareous soil with rows of Tempranillo, near the Ebro and below a mountain range. The range includes young wines made by traditional carbonic maceration, and aged reds matured for six, twelve, eighteen or twenty-four months in oak. Cepas Viejas comes from 70-year-old Tempranillo vines. White wines are made from Viura and Malvasía, and one red, Florus, is made in amphorae without added sulphites. The winery has installed solar panels.
